| Mijas,
with its backdrop of mountains, is centrally situated on the Costa
del Sol, making it a perfect location to explore the many interesting
and beautiful sights in the region. If you have a car then drive
from Mijas via the Coin road situated opposite the BP garage and
within two minutes you will be in the countryside and surrounded
by spectacular scenery.
If
you drive down the hill from the garage, Fuengirola, Benalmadena,
Torremolinos and Mijas Costa are a few minutes away. These are
the places to go if you want to enjoy the beaches or the nightlife.
In Fuengirola there is a large water park and in Benalmadena there
is a large theme park, so children are well catered for. The marina
at Benalmadena is one of the most interesting on the Costa del
Sol. |

Benalmadena
Marina
| The
fashionable resort of Marbella is about twenty minutes from Mijas
and the old town has Naranja (Orange) Square as the main attraction.
The orange trees surrounding the square, under which there are
tables for the many restaurants, provide a heady aroma to accompany
the excellent food. Radiating from the square there are numerous
small cobbled lanes full of shops selling beautiful clothing and
decorative goods.
At Mijas Costa there is a new racecourse, the Hippodromo. Horses
from Spain and other European countries race at regular meetings
in the cool of the late evening.
Within a few minutes drive of the village of Mijas there are a
great number of superb golf courses.
If you have any time left then Gibraltar, with its famous Barbary
Apes, is a little over an hour along the coast to the south, and
Nerja, with its magnificent caves, is about an hour along the
coast to the north.
And last, but certainly not least, the beautiful Alhambra Palace
in Granada and Seville, the capital of Andalucia, can both be
reached in about two and a half hours. |

Marbella
Beach
| The
lakes, which are also just under an hour away, are an in area not
often discovered by visitors to the Costa del Sol. To find them,
look on your map for El Chorro, which is to the north of Malaga
and the lakes are situated not far from here. You can picnic in
the peace and tranquillity of the specially provided parks and swim
in the lake or just sit and enjoy the beauty of the blue waters. |

The
Lakes
| Just
under an hour away from Mijas, high up in the mountains, is the
very old town of Ronda. If you like to visit old, historical Spanish
towns then this is one of the most beautiful and should not be missed. |
